Following the commissioned Portrait of Prince Albert for the foyer of the Barclays Wealth building in Monaco, this second commission was designed for the main
Constructed from over two thousand Monaco five cent euro coins arranged within the silhouette of the Barclays Eagle motif, the idea was to utilise the strong sunlight from the opposing french
windows, to create a visual effect that was interesting from both inside and outside the building.
From outside, the twinkling emblem conveys the identity of the building, yet when viewed closer up from the indoor balcony, an intriguing visual effect occurs. The sunlight reflects
onto the angled coins causing currency symbols to emerge, disappear or light up, representing the idea of the currencies playing off each other and fluctuating.
